Niger: At least 9 dead in three suicide bombings

At least nine people were killed in a series of suicide bombings Monday night in Difa, southeastern Niger, a local official said today.

"Three suicide bombers detonated explosives they were carrying. At present there are nine dead and wounded," added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police recruiting center, killing at least two people and wounding dozens more, police said. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

The attack sites "are surrounded by security forces combing the city," a security source explained.

According to social media, "three explosions" were heard around 22:00 local time (00:00 Greek time) in Difa Koura ", an old quarter of the city.
