Elon Musk confirmed on Wednesday his "planned" departure from US President Donald Trump's administration after leading a committee tasked with cutting public spending, sparking a flurry of criticism from politicians and beyond.
"As my scheduled term as a special government employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for giving me the opportunity to reduce waste," the businessman said via X.
