The Norwegian Nobel Institute has announced the filing of a lawsuit after a seemingly fake nomination of US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
"We have every reason to believe that a Trump nomination is fake," wrote Nobel Institute director Olaf Nyolstad. He declined to comment further, leaving Norwegian police to investigate.
As every year, nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize must be submitted before 31 January, only certain personalities can nominate a name (MPs, ministers, former honorees, some university professors…).
Although the list of Nobel Peace Prize nominees has remained secret for at least 50 years, the Oslo Peace Research Institute (Prio) announced earlier this month that the current White House resident is on the list.
