Cannabis consumption and use has been legalized in Canada since October 17, Prime Minister Justin Trindade announced yesterday before the House of Commons in Ottawa.

"Obviously the current approach, the current marijuana ban, has not worked to protect our children, to keep money out of the pockets of organized crime. That is why we are now bringing a new legislative framework around the issue, "the Canadian Prime Minister said in a statement.

Canada will become the first G7 country to allow the use of this drug for recreational purposes, and the second largest in the world after Uruguay.

The announcement by the Prime Minister of Canada was made after the two houses of the country's Parliament approved this week the Government bill.

Bringing the bill to the surface a year ago, Trinto said he expects $ 4,5 billion to flow into state coffers, which are now running black money in the country's economy.

Once the agreement goes into effect, Canadians will be able to grow up to four plants in their homes and produce 30 grams of dry hemp for personal use. These 30 grams can be shared with adults. Those found in greater numbers will face severe penalties.
