The atmosphere outside the Heraklion Courthouse is electrifying, where people have gathered, waiting for the apologies of the 26-year-old mother and her 44-year-old partner for the abuse of little Angelos, who is battling in the PAGNI ICU.
The couple walked through the doors of the Heraklion courts shortly before 11 in the morning.
Wave of anger over the brutal abuse of Angelos Chaotic situation in the Heraklion Courts
In the presence of a strong police force, they were led to the courts and entered the building through the back door to avoid incidents.
It is characteristic that the police have separated the corridor of the Courts with a human wall, trying to prevent the crowd from approaching the accused.
Dimoglidou: Even the police are shocked
Speaking about the case, ELAS spokesperson Constantia Dimoglidou reiterated how shocked the police officers handling the case are. “I don’t know if they’ve ever dealt with such an abused child at such a young age. The child is very abused, the picture shows that someone must be responsible,” said Mrs. Dimoglidou.
As he added to Action24, "even the doctors who are not forensic doctors understood that not all the marks on his body could be the result of a fall or an accident, as the defendants claim."
Regarding the 44-year-old's allegations based on a video he showed to the police, Mrs. Dimoglidou observed that "the video is from a few weeks ago."
"I never touched the child"
"I have nothing to do with the child's injury. It's all his mother's fault. I never touched him. Not even on Sunday morning did I realize that he hit her. I saw the marks and bruises on his body, I asked his mother what had happened and she kept telling me that Angelos was falling and hitting himself. I had the videos of the child being hit on my cell phone because I wanted to report her, but every time she told me that if I did, she would report me herself. I feel very bad that I couldn't prevent the worst. My partner becomes erratic and aggressive many times," the 44-year-old stepfather is reported to have said.
"I want to be examined by a psychiatrist"
According to information, the 44-year-old, through his lawyer Vasilis Noulezas, is expected to request an examination by a specialist psychiatrist-expert as he claims to suffer from deep depression for which he is receiving treatment. In addition, he intends to file a request for a new forensic examination if the one already conducted does not explain how the blows to the 3-year-old boy were inflicted.
"I have an excellent relationship with my 14-year-old daughter"
In an attempt to refute the serious accusations, he will argue, among other things, that he and his 14-year-old biological daughter have an excellent relationship and that is why he and his ex-wife have joint custody of her.
"The 26-year-old told me she was tired of the 3-year-old," claims the 44-year-old's ex-wife.
The 44-year-old's ex-wife, speaking to Alpha, took his side and claimed that the boy's stepfather kept photos and videos of the blows to the little boy's body on his cell phone in order to put an end to his torment.
"He probably wanted to file a complaint for the good of the child, to protect him from his mother," says his ex-wife, who accuses the child's mother.
In a telephone conversation we had together, (the 26-year-old) told me, "I can't (take care of the 3-year-old), I'm tired of him, I'll give him to his father."
For her part, the child's 26-year-old mother reportedly claims that she was not at home when her son hit his head as he had gone out to get coffee and that when she returned he was already beaten.
