Pakistan: At least 7 killed by kamikaze bomber

At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured today in a suicide bombing near a police station in Lahore, Pakistan 's second largest city, official sources said.

The attack took place at night (local time) in the suburb of Lahore, Rayd, near a mosque, where an annual religious gathering was held, with about 80.000 people in attendance.

Lahore Police Chief Operating Officer Haider Ashraf said the attack was carried out by "a suicide bomber on a motorcycle", noting that four police officers were killed.

"At least seven people, including police, have been killed," said emergency services spokesman Jam Sayad.

Syed Wahid, a senior government official in Punjab, whose capital is Lahore, confirmed the report.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
