He died homeless and did not know he had inherited $ 884.000

Kathy Boone from Oregon had $ 884.000 in the bank, but died homeless in a shelter

A homeless woman, Kathy Boone from Oregon, died at a homeless shelter despite having $ 884.000 (€ 730.000) in the bank. The 49-year-old, who lived on the streets in Astoria and had problems with drugs and psychological issues, had inherited this amount, which would undoubtedly change her life completely, but it seems that she had no idea about it.

"It all makes no sense to me," said Katie Boone's father, Jack Spitzall. "This money was sitting there and he needed help."

Kathy was born and raised in Portland and her parents divorced when she was young. He was involved with drugs and had mental health issues. Her father described her as "a lost spirit".

Drug problems started in 2016 when her mother died. Representatives of her mother's estate tried to alert her but were unable to find her. They tried to find her via facebook, on her phone of course, while they also placed ads in the newspapers.

A private detective was hired to find her, but his efforts were unsuccessful. Therefore, the amount was transferred to an account at the State Deposits Department.

Her father said that it was not clear whether the money belonged to his daughter or whether he had to go through a process to redeem it. By giving the personal representative and the proxy of the estate a year and a half, the state is not in a position to do anything more. Of course, Kathy's two biological children, as well as other members of the first-degree family, can collect the money.
