Japanese fashion designer Issei Miyaki has died

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyaki, known for his wrinkle-free pleated clothes and the creator of his friend and Apple founder Steve Jobs' iconic black turtleneck, died of cancer today at the age of 84.

Miyaki was one of the Asian designers who made their mark in Paris from the mid-1970s.

He also became known for the perfume that was released under his name, L'eau d'Issey.

Miyaki experimented with new methods and materials and broke new ground.
