A 28-year-old resident of Nicosia, who was wanted by the Police for facilitating investigations related to investigated cases of robberies and theft of property, was located early today and was arrested pursuant to a court warrant.
Against the 28-year-old, a total of three cases of robbery, theft of property and causing malicious damage, which were committed in the last few days, in bakeries in Nicosia, are being investigated.
The first robbery was committed on the evening of July 27th. At around 11pm, a masked man entered a bakery and, at the threat of a sharp object, took the money from the cash register and fled.
In the early hours of July 30th, in the same bakery, an unknown man, after breaching the locked entrance of the bakery, approached the employees of the store and demanded to give him the receipts. After taking the money, he fled in an unknown direction.
The next day, July 31, around 12.30am, the third case of robbery was committed, in another bakery in the area. According to the evidence under review, an unknown man entered the bakery and after taking various goods from the shelves, headed towards the cash register. There he allegedly pushed the cash register and after withdrawing a sum of money from the cash register, fled.
From the Police examinations, testimony was obtained against the 28-year-old, on the basis of which a court warrant was issued for his arrest. At dawn today, he was spotted by members of the Police, arrested and taken into custody, to facilitate investigations. Later today he is expected to be brought before the District Court of Nicosia, for the issuance of a detention order.
