President Donald Trump said on Friday that a scheduled summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was possible.
He even said that it could take place on June 12 as originally planned, just one day after the meeting was canceled, citing Pyongyang's "terrible sacrifice and hostility."
Mr Trump welcomed North Korea 's compromise statement, which it said remained open to talks after Thursday, and called a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
"It was a very nice statement," Trump said as he left the White House to give a opening address to the US Naval Academy. "We'll see what happens - it could be on the 12th of the month"
