Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu was sentenced by a court to pay 185.000 XNUMX in compensation for "insulting" President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his relatives.
The June 7 decision follows a lawsuit filed by the Turkish president after the official opposition leader claimed that Erdogan and some of his relatives had transferred large sums of money abroad.
The head of the Turkish state had asked to be awarded compensation of 1,5 million Turkish pounds.
Kemal Kilicdaroglu claimed last year that the Turkish president's close associates had transferred large sums of money to an offshore company in the Isle of Man tax haven, and later filed trading documents.
