Heat record in Japan with 41,1 degrees

The heat wave that hit Japan continues with the temperature reaching 41,1 degrees Celsius today in the city of Kumagaya in Saitama prefecture, northwest of Tokyo, a new record for the country, according to the country's meteorological service.

The previous record of 41 degrees Celsius was set in August 2013 in the western prefecture of Kochi.

So far, about 30 people have died from the extreme heat, while in the last two weeks thousands of people have been hospitalized with heat-related problems.
