Russia: Plane crashes - At least 2 dead

A large transport plane en route from Yakutsk to Irkutsk in Russia crashed near its destination.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that eight people were on board the Antonov An-12 aircraft, which was found at the crash site and that two people were killed, while the fate of eight others is unknown.

A ministry spokesman, referring to the causes of the crash, said it could be due to damage or bad weather. Russian media have reported that the aircraft was probably operated by the Belarusian company Grodno, which frequently flies to Russia.
