Flash floods and landslides triggered by Tropical Storm Prapirun have killed at least 10 people and left 9 missing this week in northern Vietnam, the government's disaster management agency said today.
The tropical storm that made landfall in Quang Ninh on Tuesday brought torrential rains to most of the northern part of the country in recent days, with more than 300mm of rain in some areas, the agency said.
Seven people died in Son La province, two in Dien Bien province and one in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, the agency said.

Photos in state media showed hundreds of houses in Dien Bien submerged up to their roofs in water and roads washed away or submerged.
Flooding and landslides also devastated nearly 300.000 hectares of rice and other crops and caused the loss of nearly 20.000 livestock and poultry, according to the agency.
The rains have now subsided in northern Vietnam, according to the national weather service, which predicted another heat wave in the region in the coming days.
