Arrivals from France, the Netherlands and Malta are in quarantine in the United Kingdom

France and the United Kingdom have again placed France on the list of countries from which arrivals should be quarantined for 14 days.

The British government's decision comes after a 66% increase in coronavirus cases in France last week.

The measure will take effect from 4 am local time on Saturday.

The decision is estimated to potentially affect hundreds of thousands of UK residents who are on holiday in France or have planned to travel there in the near future.

The list of British quarantine will also include the Netherlands, Malta, Monaco, the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as Aruba from Saturday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said his government would be "absolutely ruthless" in such decisions aimed at protecting public health.

Portugal, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg have already been placed on the British quarantine list.

The government also announced a doubling of the maximum fine to μέ 3.200 for anyone not wearing a face mask where required, as well as the opening of casinos, ice rinks, bowling alleys and indoor playgrounds for the first time since late March.

All services and treatments previously banned in beauty salons, tattoo parlors, spas and barbershops, receptions for up to 30 people, indoor art shows with social distances, as well as pilot sports events with spectators will also be allowed.

The government is also expected to announce a general lockdown for the city of Oldham on Friday, where 108,8 cases per 100.000 inhabitants have been recorded in the last seven days.

Last week, additional restrictive measures were imposed in Preston, which was added to a list of 18 other UK counties with a local lockdown.
