The inauguration of the US embassy in Israel was stained with the blood of Palestinians, where dozens of people have lost their lives in Gaza during the bloody demonstrations, thus creating a war scene.

 

The number of Palestinians killed is 52  by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, while hundreds of others were injured.

Among the dead are 8 children under 16 years old. The Palestinian Authority accuses Israel of committing a horrific massacre in Gaza.

Health officials said another 900 Palestinians were injured, about 450 of them by live ammunition.

The death toll brings to at least 92 the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since a protest began on March 30, according to the AFP count. They also make this day the deadliest in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the 2014 war in the enclave.

President Abbas denounces Israeli "slaughter" 

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas today condemned the Israeli "massacre" in the Gaza Strip.

"The United States is no longer a mediator in the Middle East," Abbas told the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, calling the US embassy an "advanced settlement outpost."

He announced three days of mourning in the Palestinian territories and a general strike tomorrow, Tuesday, the day Palestinians mourn the "Nakba" (catastrophe), when hundreds of thousands of them were expelled from their homes in 1948.

Protests intensified on the 70th anniversary of the founding of Israel with loudspeakers in a Gaza mosque calling on Palestinians to take part in the "Great Return March". Black smoke from car tires burning by protesters rises to the sky at the border.

"Today is the big day when we will cross the fence and tell Israel and the world that we will not always accept occupation," said Gaza science teacher Ali, who did not want to be named. .

"Many can be witnesses today, but people will hear our message. "The occupation must end," he said.

Netanyahu: Self-defense against Hamas  

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the Israeli army's actions on the border with Gaza are self-defense against Hamas, which controls the Palestinian enclave.

"Every country has an obligation to defend its borders," Netanyahu wrote on Twitter. 

"The Hamas terrorist organization declares that it intends to destroy Israel and sends thousands to break the border fence in order to achieve its goal. We will continue to act resolutely to protect our sovereignty and our citizens. "

Saudi Arabia condemns 

Without mentioning the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, Saudi Arabia condemned the Israeli fire.

"Saudi Arabia strongly condemns the firing of Israeli occupying forces on unarmed Palestinian civilians, which has left dozens dead and wounded," a foreign ministry spokesman said.

According to the official SPA agency, the spokesman called on the international community "to assume its responsibilities and stop the violence against the Palestinians", reminding that Riyadh stands for "the rights of the Palestinian people".

The spokesman did not mention the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem. The relocation of the embassy was condemned by the Arab Summit held on April 17 in Saudi Arabia.

In Qatar, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lulua al-Hater, also condemned the "slaughter" of Palestinians protesting "the unilateral decision by the United States to move its embassy to Jerusalem" and called on the international community to take action to stop it. the savage slaughter ”.

Kuwait calls for Security Council to convene 

Kuwait has called for a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday morning to discuss the continuing violence on the Gaza Strip border with Israel, diplomats said today.

"We condemn what has happened, there will be a reaction from us," said Mansour al-Otaibi, Kuwait's ambassador to the United Nations, who is not a permanent member of the Security Council.
