State Department: Increased risk of terrorist attacks across Europe

"The State Department warns Americans about the increased risk of terrorist attacks across Europe, especially during the holiday season. "American citizens need to be vigilant when it comes to celebrations and events," the State Department said in a warning on Thursday.

Recent attacks in France, Russia, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain and Finland demonstrate that terrorist organizations such as Islamic State, al Qaeda and their affiliates are capable of planning and carrying out attacks in Europe, the statement said.

Americans should be vigilant about terrorist attacks, especially in tourist destinations, transportation hubs, flea markets, shopping malls and government facilities, all of which could be targeted, the statement said. on January 31st.

Last year, Islamic State-inspired terrorists attacked an open-air Christmas market in Berlin on December 19 and a nightclub in Istanbul on New Year's Eve.
