The faithful are gradually flocking to the Vatican to pay their respects to the body of the late Pope Francis. On Friday, Catholics will be allowed to enter the church until 7 p.m.
Today the body was transferred to the basilica of St. Peter's. On Saturday, immediately after the funeral, the body of the Argentine pontiff is to be buried in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, near Rome's central train station, in accordance with the wish expressed by the "pope of the poor" himself, in his will.
It should be noted, finally, that many believers who were in St. Peter's Square, speaking to journalists, expressed the desire for the process of canonization of Francis to begin as soon as possible. As had happened, that is, after the death of John Paul II, exactly twenty years ago.
