LVMH plans to turn off the lights in its stores at night, starting in France in October, and later plans to implement the energy-saving measure in other regions of the world, the luxury goods company announced today.

Companies that keep their store lights on at night have come under fire in France in recent weeks amid calls for businesses to do more to tackle climate change.

LVMH, which operates 522 stores and 110 production units in France, said it would turn off the lights in stores from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. while at its offices at 9 p.m.

It will also reduce the temperature in industrial spaces by one degree Celsius in winter and raise it by one degree in summer, according to the company.
