A 16-year-old boy was arrested today in southern Sweden after he seriously injured a student and a teacher with a knife, police said.
Swedish media have linked the suspect in the attack to a school in Kristianstad with the perpetrator of a similar attack in August.
"He entered our classroom holding a loudspeaker, from which music could be heard and wearing a black mask for the coronavirus. At first, we thought it was a joke. ", a student, whose name was not disclosed, told the Dagens Nyheter newspaper.
The perpetrator then turned to the teacher and started "stabbing" him, the witness described, adding that the students then started running to leave the building.
After being informed that at least one man had been injured with a knife, the police soon arrested the suspect in a "relatively little spectacular" manner, the chief of Local Police, Anders, told reporters.
A 55-year-old teacher and a 16-year-old student were injured in the attack.
The teacher's injuries are "minor", but those of the student are "serious", according to a press release issued by the regional health authority.
The suspect is being held for "Attempted homicide"police said.
For its part, the TV network TV4 broadcast that 45-year-old Swede.
According to TV4, Eslov's perpetrator and Kristianstad's suspect "knew each other, had contacted the internet and had both expressed interest in the school attacks".
