A retired couple in Australia have become 'sea wolves' as they spent almost 500 days at sea after booking 51 consecutive cruises and traveling almost around the world because it was cheaper than going to a nursing home.

Marty and Jess Ansen set sail on their first cruise on June 16, 2022, after two years of severe restrictions due to COVID-19 in Australia and continue their travels having booked a total of 51 so far.

The elderly couple stayed on Princess Cruises' 2.000-passenger Coral Princess for more than 450 days – longer than most of the crew, including the captains – and expect to stay on board for two years.

"Finally, I said to my travel agent, 'Just book it,'" Marty told A Current Affair.

The couple claim it's cheaper to cruise around the world for two years than pay for a nursing home.

According to the seniors among the perks of the lifestyle is that there is always something to do, from dancing to dinner, and it comes with a maid to clean your room.

Jess especially enjoys ballroom and hula dancing, while Marty enjoys making "lifelong friends."

Their journey will last another eight months before the pair disembark. But it won't be the end of their world travels. They plan to board the Crown Princess, an even bigger ship, for another year.

As for their family, they say they see them when they stop at ports near their homes.
