Britain has not followed orders from Donald Trump regarding decisions on Saturday's strike in Syria, Prime Minister Theresa May told parliament.
"We did not do it because President Trump asked us to. "We did it because we believe it was the right thing to do," he said, adding that several foreign leaders were supporters of the strikes.
The British Prime Minister had to face harsh criticism from the opposition, especially the Labor Party, and argued that the decision was based on Britain's national interests alone.
Labor leader Jeremy Gorbin ironically thanked Theresa May for informing him Friday night about the attack in Syria and said the British prime minister should be accountable to parliament and not to the US president.
