The Castle Cabin: The dream haven in the northwestern United States

"The Castle Cabin", a dream shelter in a remote rainforest in the American Northwest, was presented by Jacob Witzling and Sarah Underwood, completing the "Cabinland" project.

The fairytale house consists of three connecting structures made of red cedar covered with slate, with conical roofs covered with moss and which are characterized by triangular skylights - a trademark of the "Cabinland" project.

"The Castle Cabin is our eternal home and has been our refuge," Witzling and Underwood wrote on their Instagram account.

A tribute to the remote rainforest is "The Castle Cabin". Although there are no roads leading there, they largely built it with their own hands in 18 months. They cleaned the glade of rubbish and carried the building materials with their hands.

And they made sure to record the process in the video series of the "Cabinland" project.

Special thanks were due to Jacob's father, Bix Hamby, "who took our sketches and turned them into acceptable architectural designs". They also recognized the help offered by Ethan Hamby, Jacob's brother, “who spent a whole year living here helping us.

"Among many others, it covered almost the entire structure with slate."

Referring to what they plan to do in the future, they commented: "We have already started working on more projects here in the rainforest as well as in 'Cabinland 2.0 ″ in the Southwest Desert, and we look forward to sharing everything with you!"
