US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Syria's de facto leader Ahmed al-Sharrah held a teleconference on developments in Syria and the Middle East. Donald Trump's meeting with al-Sharrah had been preceded by a meeting shortly before the US president's summit with the presidents of six Arab countries.
Furthermore, according to Anadolu, during the video conference, Erdogan welcomed the US president's decision to lift sanctions against Syria, which he described as "historical." In the same context, he expressed his belief that the US decision to lift sanctions against Syria will serve as an example for other countries.
"I believe that the United States' decision to lift sanctions on Syria will set an example for other countries that apply sanctions," he said.
The Turkish president also referred to the situation in the Gaza Strip. "Our efforts to stop the cycle of violence in Gaza continue. The time has come to put an end to the humanitarian tragedy unfolding in Gaza," Erdogan said.
