FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed while speaking to Congress about the assassination attempt against Donald Trump that his agency is still not sure whether a bullet grazed the former US president's ear or a fragment.
During his marathon testimony, Wray said the FBI is trying to determine exactly what scratched Trump's right ear during his July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
"My understanding is that it was either that [a bullet] or some shrapnel that grazed his ear," Wray told Republican Rep. Kevin Kiley.
Later, during the same hearing, House Select Committee Chairman Jim Jordan asked the FBI director whether his agency's inspectors knew where all eight bullets fired by 20-year-old Trump attacker Thomas Matthew ended up. Crooks.
“There is a question as to whether or not it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear. You don't know whether that bullet, other than the scratch, could have ended up somewhere else," the FBI director said.
Trump said he was 'hit by a bullet for democracy'
A few days after the assassination attempt against him, Trump said in a private telephone conversation with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that the bullet that took him in the ear "was like the biggest mosquito in the world", while from the step of the recent of the Republican convention said that the bullet "by a quarter of an inch" would have cost him his life and that he "took a bullet for democracy."
Trump's former White House doctor, Ronny Jackson, later told a conservative talk show that he examined the wound in the former president's ear. "[The bullet] went far enough past his head that he didn't suffer a concussion and just grazed the top of his ear."
As the investigation into the attempted assassination of Trump continues, the FBI director revealed, among other things, that 20-year-old Crooks searched the Internet for information about how far the attacker was from former President John F. K. Kennedy when he was assassinated in 1963.
And while Ray's congressional hearing was underway, Trump, in a post on Truth Social, called on Ray's manager to resign.
