Skvarstova said that the second phase of clinical trials of Mir-19 showed that it was superior to existing anti-coronavirus drugs.
"Phase II clinical trials have confirmed the extremely significant benefit of this antiviral drug (Mir-19) in relation to standard hospital treatment and not placebo," she said.
In another development, experimental work to develop a new vaccine against the "Omicron" variant will not take more than 10 days, said the director of the Gamalei Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, which developed the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine.
