Turkey: Establishes a military base in Libya - Greece should be worried

It was a step that will annoy Greece, which does not give up its challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean.

Turkey struck a crucial deal with Libya and leased the port of El Khums for 99 years in order to set up a military base.

Turkey, which is sowing fear with its military technological capabilities and making impressive moves in the Eastern Mediterranean, has signed an agreement that will have a strong impact in Greece.

As hydrocarbon exploration activities continue in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey where it previously signed an agreement with Libya on the maritime area of ​​jurisdiction, this time will set up a military base in Libya.

Signed for 99 years

As it became known, Turkey rented the port of Khums located on the Mediterranean coast of Libya for 99 years, with the aim of creating a military base.

With the military base to be established at the port and granted to the Turkish armed forces, it is planned to strengthen Turkey's sovereignty in the Eastern Mediterranean, increase control over Turkish territorial waters and ensure the safety of merchant ships.

New projects will be developed

According to the information, the military base to be established in the area is planned for the deployment of Turkish national UAV / UCAV systems and air defense systems that led to the success of the military operation in Libya.

Turkey's initiative in Libya was announced on the social media account of the Turkish Center for Maritime and Global Strategies (TÜRK-DEGS), chaired by Cihat Yaycı, who is a retired vice admiral and a member of the teaching and research staff of Topkapı University in Istanbul

Türk Degs made the following statements in their post:

Turkey has leased El Khums port for 99 years in order to establish a military base in Libya. A military base for the Turkish armed forces will be created in the port that will be given to the Turkish navy and its land forces.

With the leased port, Turkey will also ensure a proactive defense for Turkish maritime jurisdictions and at the same time ensure the safety of merchant ships.
