Turkish authorities have also arrested Ekrem Imamoglu's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, as part of the investigations into the corruption case for which the mayor of Istanbul has been remanded in custody.
Pehlivan was arrested on a warrant issued by the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Money Laundering Unit.
According to the announcement, Imamoglu's lawyer is being investigated for "laundering assets derived from criminal activity"
After his arrest, Pehlivan was taken to a hospital to be examined by doctors, a procedure necessary for his transfer to the police headquarters in Istanbul.
