The Turkish financial police have arrested the mayor of the small town of Sile, located northeast of Istanbul, as the Erdogan regime continues its persecution of political figures who are close to the opposition.
As it became known, the Economic Crimes Police of the Istanbul Police Directorate arrested Mayor Ozgur Kabatağı, who belongs to the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), as well as other municipal officials.
The reason for the operation and arrest of Kabadagi has not yet been revealed. He was elected mayor of Sile on March 31, 2024, with 52% of the vote.
