The deployment of US ground troops in Iran would be nothing more than a "waste of time", US President Donald Trump said last night, in a telephone interview with NBC News, considering it unnecessary.
"This is a waste of time. They've lost everything. They've lost their navy. They've lost everything they could lose," he said.
When asked to comment on the statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that any US ground operation on Iranian soil would be a "disaster" for Washington, Mr. Trump countered that it was a "useless comment."
Earlier, Mr. Araghchi said – also on NBC News – that Tehran has prepared “for every eventuality, even for a landing.”
"We are waiting for them (the enemies). We are confident that we will be able to confront them and that it will be a disaster for them," the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed.
