A tragic road accident that killed nine people and injured 26 others occurred early today in Turkey when a bus crashed into barriers under a bridge in Ankara's Polatli district.
According to TRT, the accident occurred at 5 am when the bus had started its journey from Eskişehir.
What is being examined, as Ankara governor Vasip Sahin said, is the possibility that the bus driver fell asleep at the wheel.
"There are no signs of braking on the road and based on the first estimates this is an indication that the bus driver fell asleep," Sahin said.
A car driver following the bus said that "we turned on his lights and honked but he didn't answer us."
