American security authorities have launched a manhunt for the man who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday afternoon, while issuing a new appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
Shortly after the four new photos in which Kirk's killer was captured, authorities also released a security camera video that captured the moment the wanted killer escaped a few seconds after he fired the gun he had.
In the video, as explained by Utah Public Safety Chief Beau Mason, the man is seen running to the roof of the building from which he opened fire, jumping from a relatively high height, crossing a road and ending up in a wooded area where the weapon he used was also found.
In another video published by the website TMZ, the man the FBI is looking for is seen initially walking through the Orem, Utah neighborhood and heading towards the university where Kirk was to deliver his speech, and then following the same route to escape.
The four new photos of the suspect in Kirk's murder are closer, but the young man's jockey hat and dark glasses obscure his features. However, his clothes and shoes are clearly visible, as is the backpack he was carrying.
Authorities have managed to locate a left handprint and a shoe "which the suspect left while fleeing from the roof of the building."
Mason also said, "We believe the suspect was wearing Converse sneakers. There appears to be some white paint on the soles of those Converse sneakers – all of those are identifying clues that we're looking for."
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said, “We can’t do our job without the public’s help right now.” He said citizens have provided more than 7.000 tips, a number not seen since the Boston Marathon bombing.
"We need as much help as possible. Any videos or photos you have ... should be submitted to the digital media tip line," Cox said, adding that officers from 20 state, federal and local agencies are searching for Kirk's killer.
