Former United States President Donald Trump is calling for precautionary measures to force Twitter to restore its account, which has been blocked by the platform for inciting violence.

Trump has filed a lawsuit in Florida District Court alleging that Twitter Inc. Was "forced" by members of Congress to block his account.

Twitter and other social networking platforms banned Trump's profiles after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, an incident that shocked American public opinion.

It was preceded by a speech by Trump in which the outgoing president reiterated his claim that he lost the election due to fraud, a claim that was overturned by courts and election officials.

In a lawsuit filed in court, Trump's lawyer alleges that Twitter "exercises power and control over the public political debate," a power that is described as "unprecedented" and "dangerous to democratic dialogue."

The petition also alleges that Twitter is censoring Trump while at the same time allowing the Taliban to post about their victories in Afghanistan.

Twitter Inc. had announced the block to Trump saying his arson posts violated the company's policy of "praising the violence" and made it "extremely likely" a repeat of the events at the Capitol.

Before being ousted from the platform, Trump had more than 88 million followers on Twitter.

In July, Trump filed lawsuits against Twitter, Facebook and Google, as well as their CEOs, claiming the three companies were silencing conservative political views.
