Colt Gray is the name of the 14-year-old who yesterday, Wednesday, opened fire and killed two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Georgia.

Indeed, according to American media, the 14-year-old school student was on the FBI's radar since 2023 as part of an investigation into online threats to attack a school at the time.

According to the same sources, in May 2023 the FBI received anonymous information about threats regarding acts of violence at a school with related posts including photos of weapons. At the time Gray had been considered a possible suspect and therefore both he and his father had been questioned. In conversations with FBI officials, the 14-year-old's father said he kept shotguns at home, claiming his son did not have access to them unsupervised.

According to the FBI's statement at the time, it was determined that there was no reason for any further action, but local authorities in Georgia had been notified of Gray's surveillance.

The victims

As announced by the head of the team in charge of the case, the four dead from the 14-year-old's gunfire are:

The two teachers taught high school math while Aspingwell was also a member of the school's football team.

According to the New York Post, one of the 14-year-olds who fell dead, Mason Schermehorn, was autistic, and that's why his relatives who were looking for him said in their posts on social media "if you see him, please talk to him calmly"

Gray was arrested shortly after the shooting and found to be in possession of an AR-15 assault rifle, and reports say he will be tried as an adult.

Officials told CNN that shortly before the massacre, a call was made to the school saying "there would be shootings at five schools and Apalachee would be the first."

After the carnage, Barrow County announced a mini-lockdown of area schools that will remain closed for the rest of the week.
