The Vatican press office announced that Pope Francis slept well throughout the night. A more detailed update on Francis' health is expected tonight.
Meanwhile, wishes for recovery and a return to the Vatican continue to arrive from all over the world.
"I hope he's doing well," said US President Donald Trump. French President Emmanuel Macron wished the pontiff "a full and speedy recovery" last night. "He is a champion in the dialogue between Christians and Muslims," Imam Iya Pallavicini stressed from Mecca, while the president of the Italian Jewish Communities, Noemi Di Ceni, stressed: "Francis' voice and action are a main point of reference for the dialogue of all humanity and even more so of our religions."
The first, who had wished the pontiff, in a handwritten letter, "a speedy return to his important and sacred duties," was Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Last night, in St. Peter's Square, despite the heavy rain, a crowd of believers gathered to pray for the healing of Francis.
"We ask for the help and powerful intervention of the Virgin Mary, to support him in this moment of illness and trial and to help him recover soon," said Cardinal and Vatican Prime Minister Pietro Parolin.
This universal prayer of the "Rosary" will henceforth be performed every evening in St. Peter's Square.
