Ostend authorities have launched an investigation into the violence perpetrated by two police officers against a 14-year-old girl, as seen in a video that has been posted on social media and provoked reactions.
The incident happened last Friday afternoon and the video shows two police officers immobilizing the girl on the ground, sitting on top of him, while one of them slaps her.
According to the police chief Philip Kersteker, the arrest of the 14-year-old is related to a family case.
However, due to the fact that she is a minor, she noted that she will not go into further details, while she pointed out that both the images that are circulating and what the police cameras have recorded will be investigated.
The girl was taken to her home by the police.
