Northern Lights: A magical 4K video that will captivate you

This is an amazing phenomenon that shocks everyone!

Admiring the Northern Lights up close is a unique life experience, but it is easier said than done. Even if you can make a trip over the Arctic Circle at the right time, you will have to face the cold weather and possible frustration if the conditions are not exactly right.

The video you will watch was taken by marine biologist Alexander Semenov in May 2021. It shows colorful ribbons of light flowing over the White Sea in Russia and captures every second of this unique phenomenon in clear detail, from the starry sky to icy water. , making it easy to pretend you're really there.

Northern Lights: The incredible phenomenon that shocks everyone

The Northern Lights result from a reaction between the sun's rays and the Earth's atmosphere. As charged solar particles fly toward our planet, they collide with gas molecules near the poles where the magnetic field is more concentrated. This "excites" the atoms in the atmosphere and as they return to their original state, they release photons that illuminate the sky. This amazing phenomenon is observed in various colors, but the bright green as it appears in the video is one of the most characteristic and common.

Northern Lights: Where one can enjoy it up close

The Northern Lights can be seen in both the northern and southern hemispheres, in an irregular oval shape with a center above each magnetic pole. The lights are known as "Aurora borealis" in the north and "Aurora australis" in the south, while scientists claim that in most cases the northern and southern lights are images that look like reflections that appear simultaneously, with similar shapes and colors.

However, the best places to admire this stunningly colorful phenomenon up close are in northwestern Canada, especially in the Yukon, Nunavut and Alaska. Incredible images are also visible over the southern tip of Greenland and Iceland, the north coast of Norway and over the coastal waters north of Siberia. On the other hand, the southern lights are not often seen as they are concentrated in a ring around Antarctica and the southern Indian Ocean.
