The UN chief's political affairs has expressed a willingness to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula during a visit to North Korea this week, state media reported on Saturday amid growing war over the North's missile and nuclear programs.
North Korea also said in a statement to the official KCNA news agency that the UN envoy acknowledged the negative impact of sanctions on humanitarian aid in North Korea.
Jeffrey Feltman, a senior United Nations official who has been visiting North Korea since 2012, did not speak to reporters when he returned from Beijing Airport to Beijing Airport on Saturday morning.
