Britain: At least 12 schools have received threats of a terrorist attack

British schools on alert following reports of a possible terrorist attack targeting children.

So far, about 12 schools have received threatening emails in Devon and Cornwall. Schools in Durham have also been notified.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said:

"We are aware of a number of malicious messages in schools in the country. Authorities are gathering information and security forces are working to investigate the incident and who is responsible. The police take the pranks extremely seriously. We work to alert the public.

Last week, schools in Hertfordshire received a phone call about a bomb, but it turned out to be a hoax.
