Iran's foreign minister warned the UN on Wednesday that Tehran is ready for a "decisive and unpleasant" response if Israel attacks his country in retaliation for the October 1 missile attack.

The attack came in retaliation for the killing of two of Tehran's closest allies, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, as well as an Iranian general.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad said last week that his country's retaliation would be "lethal, precise and unprecedented."

"Iran, while making every effort to protect the peace and security of the region, is fully prepared for a decisive and unpleasant response to any misadventures" by Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghtsi said during a phone call with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Araghtsi also called on the United Nations to use its resources "to stop the crimes and attacks of the Israeli regime and to send humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Gaza."

Iran's Foreign Minister is in Jordan today before traveling to Egypt and Turkey.
