CYPRUS: 166 new cases of coronavirus

The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 12, 2021:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 559.

- 60 patients COVID-19 of which 23 are in serious condition. 60,94% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

- A total of 53,275 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 166 (positivity rate: 0,31%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 121,700.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 559, of which:

354 men (63%), and

- 205 women (37%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,2 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 60 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 23 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, 10 are intubated, one is treated in an intravenous intensive care unit and 12 in an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 53,275 diagnoses made, 4,533 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 48,742 by the method of antigen rapid test, 166 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

• 18 cases from 281 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
• 13 cases of 2,114 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
• 42 cases from 1,563 samples taken through private initiative.
• 3 cases from 227 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
• 69 cases from 29,567 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
• 21 cases from 19,175 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

• 348 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
