These are the decisions of the Cabinet for the granting of supplementary payments

The Council of Ministers approved today the Ministry of Health's proposal to administer booster doses of updated, adapted vaccines against the disease COVID-19.

The Council of Ministers approved today the Ministry of Health's proposal to administer booster doses of updated, adapted vaccines against the disease COVID-19. The Ministry's recommendation came after a study of the new recommendations of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the ECDC, the World Health Organization and pharmaceutical companies regarding updated, adapted vaccines that was evaluated by the Ministry's National Vaccination Advisory Committee on Thursday 8 September 2022.

 

Specifically, the Council of Ministers approved:

 

 

a) booster/3rd dose to people aged 12 and over, provided that the period of five (5) months has passed since receiving the 2nd dose. It is understood that the validity of the European Digital Certificate (SafePass) will not be affected in case of non-receipt of booster/3rd installment.

b) 2nd booster/4th dose:

 

 In people over 30 years old,

 

 To people who live or work in retirement homes and closed structures regardless of age,

 

 In health professionals regardless of age,

 

 In pregnant women regardless of age,

 

 In people over 12 years old with:

 

• diabetes,

 

• severe obesity: BMI ≥40 or ≥35 with metabolic syndrome,

 

• severe chronic heart and vascular disease,

 

• chronic severe kidney disease,

 

• severe chronic liver disease,

 

• severe chronic neurological disease,

 

• hemoglobinopathies,

 

• in immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients such as:

 

– in active treatment for solid tumors and hematological malignancies,

 

– with a history of solid organ transplantation receiving immunosuppressive therapy,

 

– with a history of transplantation of primitive hematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy,

 

– with hereditary immunodeficiency,

 

– with HIV Infection/AIDS,

 

– in immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents,

 

– with renal failure undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis,

 

– regarding the reception of cortisone refers to persons who received or are receiving a total dose of ›10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg methylprednisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months, assuming that the period of five (5) months has passed since receiving the booster/3rd dose. It is understood that the validity of the European Digital Certificate (SafePass) will not be affected in case of non-receipt of booster/4th installment.
