From 21/05/2024, all over Cyprus, the works of engraving horizontal warning markings, on the road surface, and placing vertical markings with signs at the photo-controlled junctions and road sections where a photo-marking system (cameras) has been installed, started.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the aim is to upgrade and strengthen the existing signage to further inform the public.

As stated, this marking has a purely warning nature and does not negate the road surface marking, as determined by the Road Traffic Code, e.g. at light-controlled junctions, the alt/stop line indicating a mandatory stop.

The Department of Public Works urges the public to continue to obey road signs and the Highway Code at all times.
