The intensification for the incoming Summer period, from today, June 1st, until September 30th, of policing, checks, but also information, in relation to the safe driving of motorcycles and mopeds, always with the aim of preventing serious and fatal traffic accidents conflicts, the Police announced.

Special emphasis during traffic controls, according to a Police announcement, will be placed on the use of a protective helmet and on dealing with dangerous driving phenomena and violations of the speed limit, as well as on the driving of a motorcycle or moped by persons who do not hold their driver's license.

It is added that a check will also be made for the mechanical suitability of motorcycles and mopeds, with an emphasis on running lights and a check for engine modifications, while a check will also be made for noisy exhausts without a silencer.

At the same time, according to the Police, daily traffic checks continue, with an emphasis on traffic violations that have been proven to be the main factors in causing serious and fatal traffic collisions, such as speed limit violations, not using a seat belt, using a mobile phone while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The Police reports that among the violations that are checked during daily police traffic checks, there are also violations committed by drivers of other vehicles, endangering motorcycle or moped drivers, such as, among others, cutting off the path, with an illegal right turn in a lane, with illegal re-entry into a road, and with illegal entry from an ALT onto a main priority road.
