Employment in Cyprus increased by 1,9% in the 2nd quarter of 2022, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021, while actual working hours recorded a percentage increase of 5,2%.
Specifically, according to a preliminary estimate of the Statistical Service for employment, the total number of workers employed during the 2nd quarter of 2022 is estimated at 458.706 people, of which 408.922 are employees and 49.786 are self-employed.
The most significant percentage increases were observed in the sectors of Accommodation and Food Service Activities (NACE I), Information and Communication (NACE J), Real Estate Management (NACE L) and Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles ( NACE G).
Besides, according to the Statistical Service, the actual working hours for the 2nd quarter of 2022 are estimated at 207.154 thousand, with an increase of 5,2% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021.
The largest percentage increases were observed in the sectors of Accommodation and Food Service Activities (NACE I), Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (NACE R), Other Service Activities (NACE S), Real Estate Management (NACE L) and Administrative and Support Activities (NACE N).
