The Police in Paphos proceeded to arrest a 27-year-old woman, in order to facilitate investigations into an investigated impersonation case.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on Wednesday around 04:00 a.m. in the departures area of Paphos airport, a woman of African origin presented herself with the intention of traveling to France and presented a French identity card.
The police officer on duty, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, realized that while the French identity card was genuine, the person depicted was different from the girl who presented it.
When interrogated, the woman confessed that her information is different and specifically that she is a 27-year-old political asylum seeker from the Congo. The 27-year-old was subsequently arrested for the crime of impersonation.
Yesterday, Wednesday, he was charged before the Paphos District Court and the Court set the case for hearing purposes on October 11.
The Court also ordered that the 27-year-old remain in custody until then.
