The announcement of the party

"While the world's pockets are emptying day by day, the coffers of the state and the energy companies are filled with windfalls. This is why in other European countries they are discussing and implementing price ceilings, reduction of VAT, taxation of the surplus profits of energy companies", says AKEL in a statement, stressing that "in Cyprus, however, the opposite is happening. The government and the Alarm not only do not take such measures, but they also block those voted by the majority of the Parliament".

Such is the announcement

While the world's pockets are emptying day by day, the coffers of the state and the energy companies are filled with windfalls. This is why in other European countries they are discussing and implementing price ceilings, reduction of VAT, taxation of energy companies' surplus profits. In Cyprus, however, the opposite is happening. The government and the Alarm not only do not take such measures, but also block those voted by the majority of the Parliament.

The government and the Alarm owe a clear answer to Cypriot society. Will they withdraw or not the President's petitions for reducing the VAT on electricity and for abolishing double taxation on fuel, that is, legislation that the Parliament voted for except, of course, the Alarm? When will they realize what is really happening to the Cypriot people with the precision that is gnawing away at salaries and pensions?

AKEL calls on Nikos Anastasiadis to withdraw here and now his petitions pending before the Supreme Court, so that taxes can be reduced and society relieved.
