Stelios Theophilou, after the amputation of his palm by a firecracker, set himself the goal of saving other children from what happened to him.

He shared the tragic experience he had in 1976 as a guest on state television.

Among other things, he said, "whoever goes through this experience can't do the simplest things afterwards. To tie his shoes, to button his shirt"

Stelios Theophilou, a teacher today, not only teaches mathematics to his students, but shares with them the tragic experience he experienced at the age of 15, during which he suffered the amputation of his palm by a firecracker.

Every year, on such days, Mr. Theofilou goes to different schools, and tells his story, trying to push the children away from the alleged custom that takes lives and causes amputations and burns.

Even today, 47 years later, he remembers that day with pain and his voice still shakes at the memory of what happened.
