There is no end to the problems created due to the lack of school chaperones for children with disabilities, as the personal stories of children who see the "light" of the public highlight the seriousness of the problem and require immediate measures and a revision of the plan for Special Education.
One such story is that of Marios, who attends the A' Lyceum and suffers from cerebral palsy. According to a post by AKEL Member of Parliament, Andreas Pasiourtidis on Facebook, even though Marios needs a school escort, at the moment he is exclusively served by one of the two escorts that his school Unit has, with the result that the rest are also affected children.
The family's efforts to secure a chaperone have been unsuccessful as, according to them, there is not enough funds to cover the needs.
