Pope Francis made references to Cyprus and the great burden of migration flows in an interview he gave to the Italian public television station Rai.

Answering a question about immigration, he said that: "five countries in Europe are suffering the most: Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Italy and Spain." "These countries cannot accept them all and Europe must show solidarity," added the pontiff.

"Immigrants must integrate into society, as Sweden did with so many citizens who also came from Latin America.

Because when social inclusion is not achieved, problems arise. A constructive and pan-European immigration policy is therefore needed," Pope Francis said.
